This post is still juicy but you can let your imagination run with you! This first kilt is a more traditional, old fashioned style of Highland kilt

You'd find blokes rocking these at ren faires and the like... the shoes are called gillies. This next pic is a modern style kilt that you'll find Scottish blokes sporting at  formal events like weddings etc (in the US if you'd wear a tux in Scotland you'd wear a kilt even today).

Even Queen Elizabeth's guard of Highland Regiment still sport their kilts for all official occasions, here you can see the First Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders for an official photo shoot with Her Majesty. Colonel Simon West sat proudly in the front row next to the Queen... very proudly...
